All Salem volunteers are invited to a dinner to appreciate all the work they do for the church! Pastor Joe will take the opportunity to discuss a vision for this ministry year so that all volunteers can be unified in heart and purpose.

Childcare will be available. RSVP by August 26 so there is enough food for everyone!

New volunteers are also welcome to attend! If you are interested in joining our volunteer team, there are two additional steps we ask you to fulfull after this dinner:

1. Attend the volunteer training night on September 9.
2. Attend a six-week Bible study on Wednesday nights from September 16 to October 21. This study meets in the Sanctuary at 6:00 and is led by Pastor Joe.

If these events do not fit your schedule, please speak with Pastor Joe to work out how we might accomodate your time.

As we prepare for another school year at Salem, we want to ensure all our volunteers are equipped to handle their roles. Contact your team leader regarding where exactly your team will meet on this evening. If you are on multiple teams, you will have to choose which meeting to attend.

The Safety Procedures training is required for all new volunteers and for any volunteers who did not attend the training in May (or who did not take it online). Volunteers who have not taken this training yet this year will not be permitted to serve in their roles.

Let’s go hiking! Salem Covenant Church invites you to enjoy a piece of God’s creation every second Saturday of the month. Everyone wanting to take part can meet at the listed location at 10:00 AM, and you may hike as little or as much as you like. The trails chosen are suitable for most ages and abilities. Any individuals willing to and/or interested in carpooling should meet at Salem Covenant at least 5 minutes before the suggested leave time to allow carpoolers to reorganize and get back on the road. We ask that you come prepared and leave pets at home.

Each Wednesday evening during the school year, activities will be available for all ages at Salem! Our evening schedule is as follows:

• 5:00 PM – Community dinner
• 6:00 PM – Activities by age group
  • Nursery – Ages 0–3
  • Anchored – Age 3 to grade 5
  • Remedy – Grades 6–12
  • Adult Bible Study – Ages 18+
• 7:30 PM – Activities conclude
• 8:30 PM – Building closes

Salem’s Wednesday activities generally follow the Duluth Public School District calender. If there is no school, then there are no activities at Salem that evening.

Expect a meaningful and refreshing weekend designed to help you rediscover and firmly take hold of your identity in Christ. Through four engaging sessions rooted in Philippians 3, you’ll reflect on the roles and labels you carry, release the weight of past mistakes, and learn to focus forward on who God says you are—redeemed, chosen, and His. Alongside teaching, you’ll have opportunities to grow through prayer, creative activities, service projects, and intentional community, all while enjoying rest, recreation, and connection. Whether you come feeling confident or searching, this retreat is an invitation to “press on” and walk away grounded in your true identity as a child of God.

Adventurous Christians is a Covenant ministry located on Bow Lake off the Gunflint Trail. This retreat is a chance for the men of Salem, their sons, and their friends to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and spend a weekend in the rustic outdoors.

The retreat starts with dinner on Friday and runs through Sunday afternoon. We will have some optional activities planned, but you are free to enjoy the weekend however you prefer. There are numerous local lakes, trails, the lodge, and a sauna. The camp offers canoes for use and transportation to area trails and lakes.

Children are welcome and encouraged, as this is a great chance to do some father/son bonding!
